Air Filtration - A Breath of Fresh Air
Automotive experts agree dirt is the number one cause of engine wear. In fact, analysis by Federal-Mogul Corporation reports that 43.4 percent of all engine bearing distress is caused by dirt.
Dirt particles are extremely abrasive. They consist of razor-like flakes of road dust and airborne grit drawn into the engine through the intake manifold. Filtration is the key to preventing costly engine repairs caused by dirt, removing contaminants by trapping and holding them outside the system of oil circulation.
An engine "breathes" air to mix with fuel for combustion - about 9,000 gallons of air for every gallon of gas. The air within one cubic mile over a typical city contains more than 400 tons of suspended dirt, and the concentration is much higher in rural areas where travel frequently is over unpaved roads.
The air filter is the first line of defense against abrasive airborne grit. It must effectively filter the dangerous particles without obstructing the vital flow of air that sustains the engine.
Conventional air filters quickly become obstructed with dirt, reducing vital engine air intake, leading to poor engine performance and low fuel efficiency. They require frequent replacement.
High-quality Premium Air Filters - especially those with a synthetic nanofiber layer - are better constructed than conventional filters, remove more contaminants from the air, and also provide less airflow restriction. Not only do they have a higher filtration efficiency, but they also have a larger dirt holding capacity.
AMSOIL Air Filters
AMSOIL Ea® Racing Air Filters (EaAR) are specially designed for racing and street rod enthusiasts who desire AMSOIL quality and protection in carbureted applications. They are constructed with nanofiber technology. This synthetic media ranks among the most efficient available and provides better airflow and more capacity than cellulose filters.
AMSOIL custom Ea Racing Air Filter assemblies are designed for racing applications. They incorporate high-performance design and excellent airflow in addition to the high efficiency afforded by AMSOIL Ea synthetic technology.
Ea airflow lids: AMSOIL Ea® Racing Air Filter Kits provide racers with more power through Ea airflow lids. Not only do Ea airflow lids add filter area, they redirect air inside the filter to pull more air through the side pleats for even greater performance. They feature a polished aluminum trim ring with AMSOIL logos etched on the surface. They provide a lot more airflow than competing assemblies.
Advanced Filtration Technology: AMSOIL Ea® Racing Air Filter Kits are designed to replace stock cellulose, oil-wetted gauze or foam filters. The synthetic fibers in Ea Racing Air Filter media have sub-micron diameters and small inter-fiber spaces, resulting in more contaminants being captured on the surface of the media.
Cellulose, wetted gauze and foam filters are larger and have larger spaces between the fibers in the media, causing contaminants to load into the depth of the filter, plugging the airflow path and resulting in higher restriction. Ea Racing Air Filters have more pores per square-inch (higher pore density), allowing for higher dirt-holding capacity and lower pressure drop when compared to traditional filter media. Their thinner media fibers produce more uniform pore size distribution, improving the filter's overall ability to capture and retain particles.
Quality Construction: AMSOIL Ea® Racing Air Filters' synthetic media is pleated with epoxy-coated wire for additional strength and stiffness. A high-quality plastisol potting compound is used to ensure structural integrity between the filter media and screen. The system allows air to flow both through the side of the filter and through the synthetic media of the lid, adding more filter area, greater performance and superior efficiency.
AMSOIL now offers Ea Pre-Filters (EaPF) for racing and off-road applications. AMSOIL Ea Pre-Filters prevent large particles from sticking to EaAR and EaAU Filters and blocking the flow of air.
What Are Pre-Filters?
Ea Pre-Filters fit over the top of existing air filters. These polyester mesh bags feature an industrial grade elastic band at the opening to ensure the pre-filter does not slide off.
Why Use Pre-Filters?
Racers and off-road enthusiasts subject their vehicles to some of the most severe conditions possible. These vehicles operate where heavy dirt and mud that gets slung into every crack and corner, often clogging air filters.
AMSOIL Ea Pre-Filters are designed to keep larger particles from getting into and clogging the pleats of air filters. When an air filter is clogged, the engine loses horsepower and, in the case of Ea Air Filters, the filter must be cleaned. There is no vacuum or compressed air available on the race track or out in the swamp, but an Ea Pre-Filter is easily removed and shaken free of debris in seconds.
AMSOIL Ea Pre-Filters are constructed with woven mesh that contains uniformly-sized openings. They are oil-free, so the dirt will not stick to the bag and create a loss of air flow and horsepower. Several Ea Pre-Filters are treated with a hydrophobic water repellent process that helps prevent moisture from damaging air filters. This proprietary process is done at the mill as the pre-filters are created, not sprayed on, so there is no loss of air flow. While Ea Pre-Filters are effective in repelling water, they are not waterproof.
Ea Pre-Filters prevent particles down to 0.005’ from getting to the air filter without significantly reducing air flow. Particles larger than 0.005’ generally just fall off the pre-filter. AMSOIL Ea Pre-Filters will not cause any significant reduction in air flow. In fact, AMSOIL EaAU and EaAR Filters allow more air flow than the engine can process, so adding an EaPF will not prevent a more-than-adequate amount of air flow from entering the engine.
AMSOIL Ea Universal Air Induction Filters (EaAU) are designed to replace stock oil-wetted gauze or foam conical filters supplied with custom intake systems. They deliver excellent airflow for maximum horsepower and improved filtering efficiency for superior protection against wear-causing contaminants. EaAU Filters are easily cleanable with low-pressure air or a shop vac for long service life.
Maximum Horsepower
Increased engine airflow translates into increased power. To boost airflow into the engine, the tops of AMSOIL EaAU Filters are cutaway. The media is inserted in a conical form that is oriented toward the direction of airflow. This configuration increases the surface area of filtration, which increases airflow through the filter for optimum power.
Filter More Contaminants
EaAU Filters are made from high-quality nanofiber media. In lab testing, the nanofiber media found in EaAU Filters removed 5X more dust than the average cellulose filter and 50X more dust than the average wet-gauze media, delivering excellent protection against wear-causing contaminants entering the engine.
Durable Construction
The nanofiber media used in EaAU Filters is pleated with epoxy-coated wire on the face and back for additional strength and stiffness. High-quality, pliable urethane connectors with plastisol potting complete the product. EaAU Filters are designed to withstand the severe operating conditions common to high-performance vehicles.

WIX Air Filters
WIX is well-known around the world for its innovative filtration products for the automotive and light truck market. Founded in 1939, the Gastonia, N.C., company earned acclaim during World War II when it created an oil filter out of a paper tube, wooden plugs and yarn when steel was in short supply.
In 1954 WIX created the revolutionary spin-on oil filter that was eventually adopted as original equipment on most vehicles.
Today WIX manufactures some of the best oil, air, lube, cabin air, hydraulic, fuel, crank case breather and transmission filtration products on the market. The company is also widely known for its support of NASCAR.
WIX has been a part of racing and NASCAR for many years, both as a sponsor and in the race cars. The company’s long-standing relationship with NASCAR not only demonstrates that WIX filters are high-quality products, but it also shows WIX’s dedication to racing, making it a perfect match for AMSOIL.
WIX Panel Element Air Filters have a linear path through the filter for low airflow restriction, a specially formulated adhesive to form WIX’s exclusive pocket pleat for the filter media and a soft sealing urethane gasket molded in place on the filter element.
Radial air filters are constructed of mesh screen on the inside wall diameter for element strength and media protection from backfire. Each round filter is manufactured with heat-resistant plastisol with specially designed crush seals on the top and bottom walls and adhesive seal joining the media ends.

MANN-FILTER Air Filters

Donaldson Air Filters
Donaldson Endurance Heavy Duty Air Filters with exclusive nanofiber technology offer longer engine life, longer filter life, initial efficiency up to 99.99 percent and five times more capacity. The nanofiber technology causes submicron contaminants to be held on the surface layer of smaller fibers.
This filtration characteristic is only possible with this new type of air filtration technology.
In on-highway applications, where the contaminant is primarily submicron in size, Donaldson Endurance filters cause less restriction than conventional filters with cellulose media. The smaller interfiber spaces of nanofiber technology have a higher efficiency and capture more contaminant.
The following illustration may help visualize these phenomena: Imagine two filters, a chain link fence and a mosquito net, with a tennis ball being a dirt particle. As you may have observed, a tennis ball will fit quite nicely into an opening of a chain link fence, but will obstruct the hole almost 100%.
Now imaging the same tennis ball covering a mosquito net. The tennis ball, at the point of contact with the netting, will obstruct much less filter area than the chain link fence example. In fact, air will flow around the tennis ball all the way to the point of contact. It will take many more particles to obstruct the netting surface area than the chain link fence.

Donaldson P-Series Air Filters offer premium filtration at a competitive price. P-Series air filter media is made up of specially formulated fibers designed to trap contaminants such as dust, dirt and soot before they reach the engine.
